Software
This category includes computer programs and applications employed to schedule, and sometimes execute, maintenance schedules and functions related to the fabricating process. Commonly referred to as computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), these software packages organize and automate the various tasks and data collection needed by a particular operation. Software packages can extend beyond the manufacturing process to include management functions for an entire organization, including purchasing, budgeting, asset tracking, inventory control, work order system management, vendor management, etc. CMMS software packages are commonly designed so that anyone performing maintenance on a system can use the programs, not only the parent organization. These packages can produce status reports, maintenance reports, and other documents needed to verify regulatory compliance. Software applications can either be housed on-site on the company’s servers, or can be cloud-based.
