The FLW ENSIS M1 from AMADA AMERICA, Inc. achieves a high-speed, cosmetic weld not possible with a conventional laser welder. The FLW ENSISe takes laser welding to a higher level of precision and productivity. AMADA’s fiber laser technology provides Process Range Expansion (PRE) by ensuring precise, high-speed results even when processing reflective materials such as brass and copper. The FLW ENSISe is a complete welding solution equipped with a unique processing head, offline programming capabilities and many productivity enhancing features. An Automatic Beam Focus adjusts the lens to an optimum setting based on the welding conditions. The AI-Teaching Assist System utilizes a CCD camera to accurately compensate for any deviation from the targeted weld path. The FLW ENSISe is equipped with a patented rotating lens. With this unique feature, the laser beam is no longer aligned with a specific point along the target path — instead it circles within a small area as it is welding. A rotating lens makes it possible to bridge larger and uneven gap sizes while producing a clean, even weld. The heat input into the material is also optimized and results in precisely defined weld edges with virtually no unnecessary deposits of material. The wire feed system enables the FLW to switch from fusion welding to adding filler wire all in the same program for efficient part processing. The adaptive filler control uses a push/pull shaft motor to evenly bridge gaps on larger weld surfaces. Close corners and remove gaps by fusing 15% of the material thickness or add up to 25% of filler for a smoother weld. Push/pull shaft motor retracts wire from molten pool for cleaner, faster post weld processing.
