Zekelman Industries Donated $35,000 to Charities for Annual Customer Appreciation Event

Ribbon-cutting ceremony at Wheatland Tube’s new matter automatic warehouse, followed by NFSA (National Fire Sprinkler Association) burn test.

NFSA, National Fire Sprinkler Association, Wheatland Tube, Zekelman Industries, The Grand Resort at Avalon Golf & Country Club, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Prince of Peace, Common Voices, Barry Zekelman, Shane Ray, Atlas Tube, Picoma, Sharon Tube, Wheatland Tube, Western Tube, and Z ModularZekelman, the largest independent steel pipe and tube manufacturer in North America, donated a total of $35,000 to local and national charities as part of its annual Customer Appreciation Event. This year’s activities took place over two days in Warren, Ohio, and concluded with a golf outing held at The Grand Resort at Avalon Golf & Country Club on Sept. 17.

On behalf of the winning team, Zekelman donated $20,000 to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization dedicated to ending veteran homelessness and aiding victims of major U.S. disasters. Some of the organization’s initiatives include providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and building custom smart homes for injured veterans and first responders.

Additionally, Zekelman donated $10,000 on behalf of the second-place team to Common Voices, an advocates’ coalition that works to spread fire safety awareness across America with the message that “fire sprinklers save lives.”

This agency works to build community and reduce poverty throughout Mercer County and provides support through education, empowerment and advocacy.

This year’s Customer Appreciation Event began on Monday, Sept. 16, with factory tours of Wheatland Tube’s new Matter automated warehouse in Warren. Tours started at 1 p.m., followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:30 p.m., where Barry Zekelman, executive chairman and CEO (Zekelman), spoke about the company’s continuing technology investments and focus on world-class service excellence.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Shane Ray, president of NFSA (National Fire Sprinkler Association), conducted a burn test at 2:50 p.m. showing the importance of fire sprinklers for effective safety precautions.
