New DED Head for Processing Large-scale Industrial Parts
Laser Mechanisms’ (Novi, MI) new FiberWELD® DHµ is an ultra-compact laser wire direct energy deposition (DED) head for processing large-scale industrial parts, and aerospace components and tooling. Engineered for high duty cycle production applications, FiberWELD DHµ features both direct-cooled reflective optics and transmissive optics. Compatible with most hot-wire systems, FiberWELD DHµ allows filler wire to be fed directly into the beam path — right into the center of the melt pool. This allows the deposition process to have total directional independence. In addition, FiberWELD DHµ’s easily accessible, protective cover glass extends the life of internal optics. Primary applications for Laser Mechanisms’ new FiberWELD DHµ include additive manufacturing, cladding and HLAW.
