Speedgrip Chuck Company expands its standard workholding solutions offerings with the introduction of two new turning chucks that reduce setup time and quickly center tapered parts for efficient, versatile machining. The Ball Lock Power Chuck and Quick Change 3-Jaw Chuck are the latest additions to Speedgrip’s broad portfolio of standard precision workholding mandrels, collets and general machining jaw chucks that are proven to reduce overall part cycle times.

Speedgrip’s Ball Lock Power Chuck is three-jaw chuck used for inner- and outer-diameter clamping of castings and forgings and outer-diameter gripping of shafts. The chuck pulls back workpieces with tapered surfaces of up to 10 degrees while providing an automatic radial right and left adjustable angle compliance of ± 5 degrees with excellent clamping force. Ball Lock chucks are available as an adapter or direct mount and come in seven different sizes ranging from 6 inches to 21 inches and in several configurations, including a self-centering version and compensating chuck with center or plug. The chuck is also available in a 2-jaw configuration.

The Quick Change 3-Jaw Chuck with its large through-hole capacity comes with two sets of master jaws to allow offline pre-assembly of top tooling for the next job, which reduces traditional setup time by 95%. The presetting fixture provides ±.0005-inch repeatability between jaw changes and accommodates all chuck sizes that range from 6 inches to 24 inches. For the Quick Change 3-Jaw Chuck, Speedgrip offers its mono block jaws. Made from a nitride material that allows hardening after forming without significant distortion, the mono block jaws’ one-piece design without jaw bolt obstructions allows shops to work closer to the chuck face. The blocks are also compatible with all standard jaw chucks.

Both chucks maintain high clamping forces at high rpm with the with very low centrifugal force loss. They are engineered and manufactured in American and available for immediate shipping.

Visitors to IMTS 2024 can see the Quick Change 3-Jaw and Ball Lock Power chucks along with the company’s other premier engineered workholding solutions firsthand in booth #432268 at McCormick Place, West Building, Level 3, in Chicago, Illinois, Sept. 9-14.
