With the expansion of the WSM45X range, Walter now offers the high-performance Tiger∙tec® Silver WSM45X indexable insert grade for the Xtra∙tec® XT milling cutters, including the M5130 shoulder mills, the M5008 high-feed mills, and the M5468 copy mills and also for the Walter BLAXX F5041 the F5141 shoulder milling cutters. The insert grade is designed for milling heat-resistant super alloys, including titanium alloys, and stainless steels (ISO S and M workpiece groups).
The grade’s combination of a special carbide substrate that is wear-resistant yet tough and a unique aluminum oxide (Al2O3) chemical vapor deposition (CVD) coating ensures a high level of process reliability. The Tiger∙tec Silver coating effectively protects the substrate against excessive heat degradation and the extremely smooth surface reduces the formation of built-up edge, offering a high level of productivity. The two-tone coating also enables reliable insert wear detection.
The Tiger∙tec Silver WSM45X is a proven problem-solver, particularly when roughing titanium aerospace components and milling stainless steel. WSM45X indexable inserts are frequently applied to machine exhaust turbochargers, turbine blades and titanium structural components for the aerospace industry.
To go along with the new indexable inserts, the Tiger∙tec Silver WSM45X range also includes inserts for many other commonly used Xtra∙tec XT shoulder milling cutters, high-feed milling cutters, octagonal and copy milling cutters, in addition to face and shoulder milling cutters from the M4000 series.
