The implementation of robotics provides accuracy and precise control for deburring and finishing processes, with products well suited to both small- and medium-sized manufacturers looking to lower production costs.
Multi-Axis Force/Torque Sensors now Compatible with FANUC Robots
ATI Industrial Automation (Apex, NC), a leading provider of robotic tooling and sensing solutions, is pleased to announce the compatibility of their Multi-Axis Force/Torque (F/T) Sensors with FANUC Robots and FANUC’s Force Control Software. This collaboration opens up new possibilities for advanced automation and precision control in robotic applications.
The integration brings enhanced sensing capabilities to robotic systems, enabling users to achieve greater levels of accuracy, flexibility and responsiveness. With this compatibility, industrial manufacturers and automation professionals can now benefit from seamless integration between these powerful technologies.
ATI’s Multi-Axis Force/Torque Sensors are renowned for their ability to provide accurate measurements of forces and torques in multiple axes, enabling robots to have a sense of touch and allowing them to perform delicate tasks with dexterity. These sensors are designed to withstand harsh industrial environments, ensuring reliable operation in a wide range of applications.
With this collaboration users can leverage the full potential of force control in their robotic operations. FANUC’s Force Control Software allows for precise control of robotic motion based on real-time force feedback, facilitating tasks such as assembly, deburring, polishing, and material removal with unparalleled accuracy.
Combination Belt and Disc Finishing Machine Built on User Feedback
Delivering exceptional versatility and high efficiency, the Palmgren (Naperville, IL) Combination 6”-x-14” Finishing Machine is designed to meet the needs of the end-user. What differentiates this machine from the competition is its overall design which was built around actual user feedback. The combination finishing machine is really two machines in one because it can handle a multitude of jobs that include contour part finishing, flat stock finishing, polishing, grinding and deburring—virtually any finishing operation. The belt arm adjusts vertically, horizontally and any position in-between. The belt section is mounted directly to the motor shaft and the graphite pad is replaceable. The machine features advanced easy belt tracking and quick, easy belt changes.
Partners Support Range of Products
Saint-Gobain Abrasives (Worcester, MA), one of the world’s largest abrasives manufacturers, is pleased to announce a new partnership with Dedeco®, a leading manufacturer of specialty abrasives since 1937. Saint-Gobain Abrasives will market Dedeco’s SUNBURST® line of thermoplastic-bonded abrasives.
The SUNBURST line includes radial bristle discs and brushes for deburring, cleaning, finishing and polishing metals, plastics, composites, wood, and many other surfaces. From heavy duty removal to blending and mirror-like polishing, in both manufacturing and maintenance operations, SUNBURST covers virtually all applications including in industries such as general metalworking, welding, 3D printing, aerospace, automotive, and medical industries.
New Robotic Electric Force Compliance System
The EFC-02 from Suhner USA Inc. (Rome, GA) combines over a century of Suhner’s abrasives and material removal expertise with smart automation for the highest surface quality results. As with any end-of-arm tooling, the EFC-02 connects a grinding machine — angle grinders, orbital sanders, angle polishers, straight grinders and others — to the robot. What makes Suhner’s system unique, however, is its compact design and fully electric operation. This allows high-frequency measurements to monitor force and acceleration throughout the process. An advanced control algorithm then dynamically adjusts force and automates grinding processes based on pre-programmed parameters. The result? Constant contact force with each movement from start to finish for a consistent surface quality – regardless of the surface type, shape, size or orientation.
The EFC-02 is a cost-effective, low-maintenance solution for replacing many time-consuming and tedious manual processes — saving time and money.
