Ian Frank has been named as head of applications engineers for TruLaser laser cutting machines at TRUMPF Inc.’s North American headquarters in Farmington, Connecticut. In his new role, Frank will supervise TRUMPF 2D laser cutting applications engineers, who provide technical expertise and demonstrate flat sheet laser cutting applications to machine tool customers. In addition to the TruLaser engineers who assist with pre- and post-sales application support, Frank will also oversee the team of CARE engineers who work with TRUMPF sales representatives across the United States to help customers with after-sales applications.
“I look forward to working with our TruLaser applications team and CARE engineers to support TRUMPF customers,” says Frank. “We are here to help throughout the process. Applications engineers are a critical part of pre-sales customer support. And CARE engineers spread throughout the country visit local customers to assist with applications, suggest ways to optimize productivity, and provide a link to TruServices options, such as consumables.”
Frank has more than eighteen years of manufacturing experience. He began his TRUMPF career building up technical expertise in the assembly department before moving into a direct product consultation and customer service role. “Ian Frank has been a valued member of the laser applications team for seven years,” says TRUMPF Inc. Head of TruLaser 2D Salay Quaranta, “and he has continued to grow in his knowledge of the portfolio and developed countless close relationships with our customers across North America since he joined the company in 2011.”
TRUMPF Inc. has also announced that Travis Stempky has moved into new role: head of laser technology applications at TRUMPF Inc.’s Laser Technology Center in Plymouth, Michigan and in Santa Clara, California. In this role, Stempky oversees all industrial laser material processing applications for OEM, systems, and marking solutions, in support of the automotive, aerospace, electronics, medical, and general industries in North America. Additionally, Stempky facilitates the development of multi-axis cutting, welding, marking, cleaning, and micromachining applications, in coordination with TRUMPF application centers in Europe and in Asia.
Stempky has been with TRUMPF for more than six years and started with the company as a laser application engineer in 2017. He was previously the supervisor of the high-powered laser application lab for welding, cutting and laser metal deposition technologies.
