LVD Introduces 30-Ton, 5-Meter X-Axis Turret Punch Press
LVD North America (Akron, NY) has introduced the Strippit V30 1550, a heavy-duty, 30-metric-ton turret punch press that features a 200″ (5 m) X-axis.

LVD said that given the X-axis, the press can process worksheets up to 200″ long by 60″ wide without multiple repositionings of the sheets, excessive sheet handling, or extra shearing operations. LVD added that 1) with reduced part-handling time, punching and forming operations are more productive and cost efficient and that 2) the ability to process a large sheet size also reduces welding and other secondary tasks, decreasing the cost per part.
The press’s 5 m X-axis has a rack-and-pinion design that can deliver precise motion and rigidity over the full length of axis. The X-axis can traverse at 3,150 IPM (80 m/min) with a combined axis traverse speed of 4,095 IPM (104 m/min). Also, the press has a maximum hit rate of 440 hits per minute on 1″ centers in material thicknesses up to 0.25″ (6.35 mm).
LVD has already completed the first installation of the press. The installation was for a fabricator specializing in perforated metal solutions for industries ranging from aerospace to architecture. In this application, the press replaced a punching machine integrated with right-angle shear able to process worksheets up to 60″ by 160″ (1575 mm by 4025 mm).
LVD makes sheet metalworking equipment.
