Allied Machine & Engineering Expands Line of Fine Boring Heads with New Wohlhaupter 465 (464) Series

Allied Machine & Engineering Corp. (Dover, OH) recently announced the launch of the 465 (464) series of fine boring heads, expanding the line of Wohlhaupter boring tools.

Posted: October 12, 2021

Internally balanced, the new fine boring heads include 3ETECH digital adjustment and analog vernier scale adjustment.

One 3ETECH digital readout can be used on multiple, adaptable 3ETECH  boring head tools, including VarioBore, 538 (537) large diameter cassettes, 465 (464) fine boring heads, and custom tooling solutions.

The new 465 (464) heads have a full diameter range of 1.968”–8.070” (50 mm–205 mm) with the lightweight aluminum Alu-Line boring heads ranging from 2.559”–8.070” (65 mm–205 mm). According to Allied Machine, the new heads feature the standard Wohlhaupter MVS connection, so they can be adapted to any machine.

Allied Machine added that with the digital diameter adjustment located externally rather than internally, the tool can be used with maximum coolant pressure, there being no concern about damaging digital components inside the tool during operation.

“Wohlhaupter has redesigned its entire balanced fine boring product offering with the expansion of the proven 3ETECH to offer cost-effective tools with digital readout,” said Frank M. Wohlhaupter, managing partner of Wohlhaupter GmbH, which is controlled by Allied Machine.

Wohlhaupter added that: “The ability to use one digital readout module on the entire range of fine boring tools offers customers a digital solution at a lower cost and at no risk of damaging digital displays due to coolant, chips, or other unknown forces.”

Allied Machine provides holemaking and finishing cutting tools for the metal-cutting industry.
