BIG KAISER Offers Comprehensive Line of Machine Tool Cleaners
BIG KAISER Precision Tooling (Hoffman Estates, IL) bore cleaners are designed to remove chip particles, grease, oil and coolant from the hard-to-reach clamping bores of milling chucks, hydraulic chucks and shrink fit holders. Made of injection molded plastic, these cleaners are designed to resist corrosion. BIG KAISER’s TKC Cleaners are best for larger holders and the Alpha Wiper Cleaner is ideal for smaller holders helping ensure the highest and most concentric gripping possible.
Taper cleaners are the bore cleaner’s cousin and serve a similar purpose at the other end of the tool, ensuring clean clamping into the machine spindle. They are made in the same resilient style, with cleaning strips at the ideal intervals to remove even large particles. In addition to HSK versions, BIG KAISER offers cleaners made especially for dual-contact BIG-PLUS tooling that clean both the flange and taper.
In a cutting environment, it’s inevitable that particles find their way into a machine tool spindle. This not only makes it harder to dial in cuts and harms tool life, but it can also damage spindles over time — and that’s not an inexpensive problem. BIG KAISER’s spindle cleaners are meant to make it easier to avoid these issues. Ideally spaced and positioned cleaning strips remove particles, as well as grease and oil residue, in HSK, BIG CAPTO, ISO and Morse tapers.
HAIMER’S New Power Clamp Machines and Duo-Lock ER Collets
HAIMER (Villa Park, IL) has added two new power clamp shrink fit machines to the market: the compact Power Clamp Air i4.0 and the Nano NG i4.0. Both are true specialists in their particular applications. The Power Clamp Air i4.0 enables a particularly even and clean cooling for all kinds of shrink fit chucks and shrink fit collets, regardless of the outside contour, by air nozzles — without dirt and water residue. The Power Clamp Nano NG i4.0 was specially developed for shrink fit collets and small tool holders up to size HSK-A63. The shrinking process is horizontal, with a fully automated motor coil and air-cooling.
Duo-Lock™, HAIMER’s modular cutting tool system, maximizes a carbide tool’s productivity in both roughing and finishing applications. It provides high-load capacity and rigidity when machining at high metal removal rates. The new Duo-Lock ER collets allows for quick tool changes in turning machines and live-driven tools with great z-axis repeatability. Tool changes happen within 30 seconds, which reduces the amount of downtime of the machine. With the HAIMER Shrink Fit ER Collets, machinists can start immediately making good parts. No in-machine presetting is needed once it is inserted because it can be done outside the machine on the HAIMER Power Clamp Air i4.0 with Preset.
BIG KAISER Adds Chip Blower for Use with Hydraulic and Milling Chucks
BIG KAISER Precision Tooling (Hoffman Estates, IL), a global leader in high-performance metalworking equipment, has updated its offering of chip blowers, which are designed to make removing chips and coolant from parts and machine tables fast, easy and safe. The new Chip Blower has an extended steel shank, from 1.77″ to 2.5″, for added compatibility with hydraulic and milling chucks.
The Chip Blower automates in-machine cleaning of coolant and chips by delivering high-volume air flow with spindle rotation. When not in use, the Chip Blower fits easily into any automatic tool change system for vertical, horizontal or multi-tasking machining centers. It can be used with automatic tool changers and programmed into a machining cycle, helping to improve machine utilization and increase productivity. The product complements the solid construction, fixed blade ChipFan.
The Chip Blower is available with three blade length options and has center-through coolant capability for high-pressure washing.
