Three Updated Cobot Models Offer Greater Connectivity
The “A” in Hanwha’s HCR-3A, HCR-5A, and HCR-12A stands for “advanced.” Three cobot models improve on their predecessors by offering customizable solution packages that incorporate artificial intelligence and mobility technologies.

Hanwha Precision Machinery (Franklin, WI) updates three Hanwha collaborative robot (HCR) models to HCR Advanced. Along with faster speeds, the HCR-3A, HCR-5A, and HCR-12A offer customizable solutions packages that combine the company’s artificial intelligence and mobility capabilities. The company is integrating its robotics technology with existing logistics automation systems, secondary batteries, and display-related facilities to satisfy the diverse needs of customers worldwide.
Advanced Solutions include:
- Advanced EtherCAT port for easy plug-and-play and two I/O ports with eight pins for direct integration with dual grippers. Key functional accessories, such as force torque sensors and grippers, can be attached without adding cables.
- Robot AI 3D Vision (RAIV) maximizes efficiency through 3D cameras and deep learning technologies.
- Robot Visual Safety (RVS) function ensures safety by automatically gaging and adjusting the cobot’s path in relation to its human coworker.
- HCR Advanced Mobility Solutions combine an autonomous laser-guided vehicle (LGV) with an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) to boost productivity by overcoming the cobot’s weight limits. These include:
- Robot monitoring service (RMS), which uses a Hanwha Techwin camera to monitor the cobot’s work environment and sound alarms in case of danger.
- Robot positioning compensation (RPC), which makes the cobots easier to use and more accurate.
The cobots lift 6.6 pounds (3kg), 11 pounds (5kg) and 26 pounds (12kg), respectively.
