Featuring uncomplicated software and a thermally stable cast iron base, Microset tool presetting machines from Haimer USA (Villa Park, IL) maintain accuracy and process reliability from one operator to the next. Ranging from entry-level machines for low-volume users to fully automated presetting with incorporated shrink fit technology, the presetters are Industry 4.0-ready with post-processing capabilities, ±2 μm repeatability and features such as ‘Release-By-Touch’ with laser edgefinder; vacuum clamping; 1,000-tool data storage; and an incident light.
The Microset VIO linear toolshrink with 24-inch touchscreen, for example, offers fully automatic measuring cycles for maximum operating convenience. With its user-friendly operating panel, machinists with varying skill levels can use the presetting machine. It comes with a fully automatic induction unit, automatic detection of shrinking parameters, automatic length adjustment within ±10 μm, an extractor, and contact cooling. The shrink technology permits tool changes of any shrink chuck regardless of holder brand.
Options include a second camera for rotation center measuring, bidirectional interface, manual or automatic RFID system, label printer, intelligent cooling system with temperature sensor, and measure-by-touch.
