Featuring a reinforced rigid steel frame and a mineral cast machine table, the rigidity of Datron Dynamics Inc.’s (Milford, NH) MXCube allows for higher high-speed milling loads and accuracy via a 34,000-rpm 10-horsepower spindle and exceptional vibration dampening. Combined with the company’s intuitive Next CNC control that’s easy for operators at any experience level to use, the machine virtually eliminates the need for secondary operations by optimizing complex-part workflow from start to finish.
Measuring 106 inches wide and 73 inches deep, the machine also consumes little floor space relative to its large (1,040mm by 850mm by 270mm) machining area.
The machine’s all-steel drive train operates on 25mm ball screws, and all axes are equipped with absolute linear scales to achieve tolerances in the microns at a feed rate of up to 1,574 inches per minute. Renishaw’s TP-20 probe increases accuracy and a magnetic breakaway tip improves crash avoidance. That makes the machine perfectly suited for high-mix, low-volume applications such as product development, mold making, micromachining, and aerospace and medical manufacturing.
Standard features include an external 60-station automatic tool changer with five-station toolholder that can be loaded and unloaded while the machine’s running, a sliding cabin door that facilitates automation, LED machine status lighting, coolant- and air-level monitoring, and space for two internal 9-liter containers for minimum quantity coolant. Easily attached conveyor-driven chip management system is also available.
