The D4120 indexable insert drill from Walter USA (Waukesha, WI) combines cost-effective superior performance with enhanced precision. Hardened and polished flutes facilitate easy chip removal and high process reliability; two independent thru-coolant channels lead to a strong steel core that produces superior hole tolerances.

Precise hole diameters are achieved by balancing cutting forces between the center and peripheral insert (geometries A57, E57, and E67). Costs of operation are minimized by four cutting edges and the long life of the company’s Tiger·tec Silver grades. Combining drill bodies and inserts with CVD and PVD grades WKP25S, WKP35S, WSP45 and WXP40 increases cost-efficiency and flexibility.

The drills are ideal for difficult machining operations such as cross holes, curved surface entry, chain drilling, and inclined entry and exits. They can be used in steels, stainless steels, cast irons, nonferrous materials, and super alloys (ISO materials P, M, K, N and S). They have very good applicability in general metalworking, die and mold making, and the energy and automotive industries.

The series includes drills with up to 4 x Dc in inch sizes, 5 x Dc metric and in diameters up to 1.375 inches and 59 mm. In addition to standard dimensions, the drill is available in special dimensions via the Walter Xpress rapid specials and quotations program.
