Since completing the acquisition of Gas Control Equipment (GCE) in October 2018, ESAB Welding & Cutting Products (Annapolis Junction, MD) has focused on aligning products into four focus areas: cutting and welding, healthcare, specialty gas equipment, and cylinder valves. Furthering this global integration, North American distributors and customers now have full access to the GCE Druva specialty gas equipment and GCE Valves product lines.
To support the move, ESAB built a dedicated Configuration Center at its Denton, Texas, facility. The center, which serves the GCE and Victor brands, is isolated from the manufacturing areas for Victor industrial products, which are also part of ESAB’s portfolio.
“The Configuration Center provides build-to-order services for specialty gas equipment products in a specially designed clean-room environment,” says ESAB Global Product and Business Director Gas Equipment Curt Rocha. “We also added GCE-dedicated engineering, applications, assembly and sales support teams to ensure ‘best-in-class’ equipment solutions and quick-turnaround.”
With headquarters in Sweden and manufacturing facilities around the world, GCE has supplied gas control equipment for more than 100 years. The GCE Druva line focuses on the control and distribution of high-purity and specialty gases used in research and manufacturing processes. Products include those for analytical laboratory, semiconductor, automotive, petrochemical, and other high-tech industries.
The GCE Cylinder valves product range encompasses standard valves, residual pressure valves (RPV), industrial and medical valve integrated-pressure regulators (VIPR), stainless steel specialty gas valves, dip tubes and guards. GCE’s U.S. website divides products into three end-use categories: medical, cylinder and high-purity.
“Because of the portfolio’s breadth and depth and myriad inlet/outlet/cylinder connections available, we offer North American customers the most configurable specialty gas and valve equipment in the world,” says Rocha.
