Dallas Industries (Troy, MI), a manufacturer of coil handling, press feeding equipment and controls for the stamping industry, has announced Kapco Metal Stamping (Grafton, WI) has taken delivery of a new Dallas Industries feed line. Kapco is a family owned manufacturer of precision metal stamping and formed parts. Its capabilities also include fabrication, tube fabrication, weldments, tool and die, machining and assembly.

The automated conventional 30 in.-wide coil feed line is rated for materials up to 20,000 lb. and is equipped with a model DRFH-530 servo feed (5 in. diameter rolls). It is fitted with a threading table, a heavy-duty 9-roll powered straightener (model DPS-3.5-30-9-5T) with peeler/threader/coil restrictor and with a motorized end wheel and 20,000 lb. capacity coil reel with coil car.

It also feature Dallas’ SyncLoop technology, wherein the  average line speed and loop depths are monitored and payout speeds adjusted automatically to ensure a smooth payout. The line also incorporates a number of automated axes (or AutoSet) for fast, repeatable setups.

AutoSet allows for some or all of the adjustable points on a feed line such as straightener rolls, edge guides, coil guides and feed passline to be automatically positioned based on job parameters. The line is built on an Allen-Bradley, Ethernet-based control architecture and features ProfileSelect, a unique feed control system that is exclusively available through Dallas Industries. It uses a cam-motion (sinusoidal) profile. This smooth profile results in a feed motion that utilizes 100 percent of the press feed window, reducing stress on the material and the feed’s mechanical components.
