Updated Diameter-to-Diameter Roll Marking Machines
In addition to faster cycle times and easier setup, Columbia Marking Tools (CMT) bottle- and cylinder-marking machines reduce the need for secondary marking of serial numbers or tare weights. New design also allows more complex operations.

Diameter-to-diameter roll-marking machines from Columbia Marking Tools (CMT) (Chesterfield Township, MI) have been modified to include:
- Servomotors for faster marking times and more precise positioning, including the ability to mark one portion of the complete tooling holder. The motors can control the motion to limit the portion of the stamp holder in contact with the part. This speeds the marking cycle and removes the requirement of carry dots and background marking.
- A laser alignment projection system takes the guesswork out of setup by identifying exactly where the marking will be on the part.
- Concave numbering heads for serial numbering.
- Built-in 2-inch stroke ejection motion to facilitate unloading.
- Upgraded PLC controls that can be integrated with the manufacturing execution system (MES) system for part tracking and traceability.
- Random part numbering from a tare weight scale or MES system.
- Electric fence increases safety and helps ensure the operator isn’t injured during the movement of the marking system, while at the same time reducing mechanical guarding that obstructs loading and unloading and reduces cycle time.
Ranging from 14 inches to 81 inches long and from 3 inches to 8-1/2 inches in diameter, the heavy-duty machines mark 55 characters per line of a ¼-inch or 5/16-inch character size. Cycle times range from 7 seconds to 20 seconds depending on number of characters.
