The latest generation of Fuji Machine America Corp.’s (Vernon Hills, IL) CSD Series and an upgrade to the CSD-300 twin-spindle lathe, the front-facing CSD-300II is more robust than its predecessor and loaded with features that provide  faster, easier, and stronger operation.

For exceptionally quick and accurate turning of a variety of parts, the horizontal lathe’s turret index times are as low as 0.19 seconds; robot cycle times, 17.9 seconds; and loading times, 4.8 seconds.

A dual-gantry robot and the latest FANUC controls make operation and changeover easier and more efficient. Improved HMI and a single integrated Fanuc control panel allow for convenient operation and setup of the machine and robot. A clamp/unclamp switch for the robot chuck and the robot’s centralized lubrication system are standard.

The lathe is ready to quickly connect to the Internet of Things (IoT) via Fuji’s optional desktop software. LAPSYS reads scanned laser etchings to trace part origin, including machine and spindle; and enables part traceability, predictive maintenance, and remote operation.

An optimized bed design with a grooving width of 0.55-inch (14 mm) renders the lathe exceptionally rigid.

Providing maximum material handling from a compact footprint of 89 inches (2,260 mm) by 78 inches (1,980 mm), the machine’s Fuji-engineered hydraulic clamping loader and 8-inch-to-10-inch-capacity chucks manage workpieces 3.94 inches (100 mm) by 7.87 inches (200 mm) and weighing 11 pounds (5 kilograms) on each robot.
