Mazak’s Variaxis C-600 vertical machining center (VMC) is controlled by a Mazatrol SmoothAi configured specifically for 5-axis machining. Its flat front and large internal operation area make the machine easy to integrate with automation systems such as a two-pallet changer, robotic loaders, and hydraulic/pneumatic jigs.

The Variaxis C-600 5-axis vertical machining center (VMC) from Mazak Corp. (Florence, KY) offers a variety of optional features, automation-ready machine enclosure, operator-friendly ergonomic design, significantly improved productivity, and the most-recent CNC within the company’s Smooth Technology platform: Mazatrol SmoothAi.

SmoothAi represents the culmination of decades of research into machine connectivity, manufacturing automation, and process optimization. As a result, the machine has access to a wide range of functions including digital synchronization via Mazatrol Twins and artificial-intelligence-powered machining modules like Smooth Ai Spindle and Ai Thermal Shield.

The machine leverages 40% faster rapid traverse rates, 4.5-second chip-to-chip automatic tool changer, double-ended tilting table, and robust C-frame construction for shorter non-cut times and faster cycle times.

Standard, high-torque, and high-speed spindle options allow shops to easily handle demanding materials including aluminum, stainless steel, nickel and titanium as well as complex parts. The large machining area and compact spindle cartridge allow short tools to be used for high-accuracy machining.

The rigid double-ended tilting table ensures the highest accuracy during high-speed machining. For higher productivity, two-pallet changers allow operators to set up the next workpiece during machining.
