Featuring Beckhoff CNC controls with G-code programming capability, the 3-axis DeHoff 1036 machine from Kays Engineering Inc. (Marshall, MO) is designed for re-boring automotive engine block CAM journals during a rebuild program.

The machine’s single spindle provides a maximum boring capacity of 1 in (25.4 mm) and maximum boring depth of 36 in (914 mm). Multiaxis capability is provided by a “knee” table that allows for 21.5 in (550 mm) of X-axis travel and 12 in (300 mm) of Y-axis travel.

Instead of linear guideways and milled surfaces, DeHoff machines feature steel boxways and hand-scraped mating components. This results in superior vibration dampening, extended tool life, and improved surface finish.
