Flap Discs that Deliver High Value-to-Price Performance

ALU-PRIME flap discs, premium trimmable flap discs, and Z-PRIME and Z-SOLID zirconia flap discs from Weldcote provide fast metal removal, cooler cutting, longer disc life and higher flexibility for grinding a variety of non-ferrous and ferrous materials.

For applications on aluminum, other nonferrous metals and blending stainless steel, ALU-PRIME premium flap discs from Weldcote are manufactured of high-quality aluminum grain to work longer and more effectively before needing to be changed out. A second-tier calcium stearate reduces material buildup between grains, helping to prevent the aluminum from loading. These flap discs also allow the user to keep the work material cooler.
For use on carbon-based steels and stainless steel, premium trimmable flap discs from Weldcote are lightweight and easy to control for less gouging of the metal material, and are available in both C-PRIME ceramic grain and Z-PRIME zirconia grain for fast metal removal. The ability for the operator to trim the back plate allows them to use the discs longer, increasing disc life up to 65 percent. Constructed of nylon 6, the trimmable backing is durable and more comfortable to work with than hard plastic. It provides excellent flexibility for applications with corners.
For applications on carbon-based steels and stainless steel, Z-PRIME and Z-SOLID zirconia flap discs from Weldcote use zirconia grain technology for fast metal removal and cool cutting with light pressure, and feature an industry-first poly-cotton backing for increased grain retention that still provides flexibility and the ability to withstand the high pressure generated from a right-angle grinder.

For applications on aluminum, other nonferrous metals and blending stainless steel, ALU-PRIME premium flap discs from Weldcote Metals (Kings Mountain, NC) deliver high value-to-price performance by using a design that allows the discs to work longer and more effectively before needing to be changed out. A second-tier calcium stearate reduces material buildup between grains, helping to prevent the aluminum from loading. The flap discs also allow the end user to keep the work material cooler. ALU-PRIME premium flap discs are manufactured of high-quality aluminum grain, available with grits of 36 and 60, and feature a tough, heat-treated polyester backing. These flap discs are offered in 4½ in, 5 in and 7 in sizes in a compressed profile design developed to increase product life and reduce inventory costs for end users. “Our proprietary flap disc design, combined with our innovative manufacturing equipment, gives this flap disc longer life at a great value,” said Joe O’Mera, the chief executive officer of Weldcote. “It’s constructed with calcium stearate to reduce material buildup and delay material loading.”

For applications on carbon-based steels and stainless steel, Weldcote offers U.S.-made premium trimmable flap discs that are lightweight and easy to control for less gouging of the metal material. The ability to trim the back plate on these flap discs allows operators to use the discs for a longer period of time, increasing disc life by up to 65 percent. Constructed of nylon 6, the backing is durable yet trimmable and much more comfortable to work with than hard plastic. The backing also provides excellent flexibility, making it ideal for applications with corners. These trimmable flap discs are available in 4½ in, 5 in and 6 in sizes in both high quality C-PRIME ceramic grain and high quality Z-PRIME zirconia grain that promote fast metal removal. Both flap disc materials are offered with a patented 5/8-11 in built-in hub and a standard 7/8 in arbor hole, and both feature a compressed shape developed to increase product life and reduce inventory costs for the end user.

Weldcote also offers Z-PRIME and Z-SOLID zirconia flap discs for applications on carbon-based steels and stainless steel. These premium flap discs are manufactured of high-quality zirconia grain that provides fast metal removal. Zirconia technology incorporates an active grinding agent that delivers cool cutting with light pressure. Offering a high value-to-price performance, Z-SOLID flap discs feature long lasting, high density, chemically-treated zirconia aluminum oxide grains that allow for excellent metal removal rates. Z-PRIME and Z-SOLID flap discs both feature an industry-first poly-cotton backing for increased grain retention that still provides flexibility and the ability to withstand the high pressure generated from a right-angle grinder. Z-PRIME flap discs are available in 4 in, 4½ in, 5 in, 6 in and 7 in sizes, while Z-SOLID flap discs are available in 4½ in, 5 in, 6 in and 7 in sizes. “Zirconia is the number one selling material grain in the flap disc marketplace, and the fact that these flap discs are manufactured in the U.S. is a huge competitive advantage,” noted O’Mera. “Our proprietary flap disc design gives users the fastest metal removal capabilities of any zirconia-based grain flap disc on the market.”
