thyssenkrupp Invests in New Traverse Winder

thyssenkrupp Materials NA, Copper and Brass Sales (Southfield, MI) announced that the new Burghardt +Schmidt traverse winding equipment line in their Bolingbrook, IL facility is operational. This traverse winder is fully automated with programmable software for a high level of repeatability and consistency that further enhances the 80,000 sq ft state-of-the-art red metal strip processing facility in Bolingbrook that houses over two million pounds of inventory. Red Metal products available include copper, brass, bronze, and High Performance Alloys (HPAs). Slitting capabilities include double-looping pit slitters with shimless tooling that are especially well-suited to supporting red metal strip materials of the highest quality level requirements for the automotive, appliance and electronic connector industries. The traverse winder’s capabilities are:

  • Width range of .200 in thru 2.00 in.
  • Gauge range of .005 in thru .095 in.
  • Reel sizes up to 4,000 lb in a traditional spool package.
  • 16 in cardboard core package with selectable core width.
