Scanlab GmbH (Puchheim, Germany) appointed Christian Sonner as their head of research and development. The highly experienced control expert will further strengthen their market position in digital products and control systems for the photonics industry. By assuming this role, he continues the successful work of his predecessor, Norbert Petschik. Under his leadership, the R&D department and around 70 employees will increasingly focus on highly integrated scan solutions. Sonner has extensive expertise in developing system solutions, and in his new role he will drive forward interdisciplinary collaboration.
“I’m very pleased we were able to gain Christian as our new R&D head and management board member. Over the past few years I’ve come to know him as a sharp thinker, an accomplished technologist and empathetic manager. In view of our customers’ growing requirements for complex systems, he’s the optimal future-oriented appointee,” commented Georg Hofner, the chief executive officer of Scanlab.
Since 2013, Sonner has been the company’s software development manager. Under his leadership, the innovative scan control systems for precSYS and XL SCAN were developed. After earning an applied mathematics degree, he initially specialized in industrial robot controllers, focusing on functionality for redundant kinematics at prior employers such as KUKA.
