With facilities in Ireland, the UK and the U.S., Irish-owned international precision engineering group ATA Group (Cavan, Ireland) acquired Karnasch Professional Tools GmbH (Heddesheim, Germany) in a deal that marks another important milestone for the company and the first since the 2016 management buyout of their private equity partners. This acquisition brings the value of their combined enterprise to around $179.7 million and increases their worldwide workforce to nearly 400, with approximately 150 based in Ireland.
Established in 1960, Karnasch is a third-generation family-owned company that sells precision industrial tools across multiple applications, including grinding, milling, cutting, sawing and drilling. They have market premium positions in a number of important product categories, servicing various industry sectors that include automotive, aerospace, construction and mechanical engineering. They have a strong position in the domestic German market and exports to over 60 countries worldwide. Michael and Sascha Karnasch will continue as managing directors, retaining a shareholding. Both join the ATA senior management team. “We are very pleased to be able to join with a company who we know well and have hugely regarded for over 20 years,” said Michael Karnasch. “They are a progressive industry leader. We believe that our new combination provides many excellent opportunities to accelerate for growth, both for our business and for our employees.”
