Extreme Positioning Flexibility for Machining Complex Parts in a Single Setup

The highly versatile UMC-750P machining center from Haas quickly positions parts to nearly any angle for 5-sided (3+2) machining, full simultaneous 5-axis motion for contouring and complex machining, or more traditional tombstone machining like a HMC.

The UMC-750P 5-axis machining center from Haas replaces the rotating platter with a 33 in x 14.75 in fixed table on which an HRT210 rotary table with an A-frame support is mounted. The B-axis trunnion provides ±45 deg of tilt and the HRT210 provides 360 deg of A-axis rotation for excellent tool clearance and large part capacity. This configuration quickly positions parts to nearly any angle for 5-sided (3+2) machining or provides full simultaneous 5-axis motion for contouring and complex machining.

The highly versatile UMC-750P machining center for 5-axis profiling and head porting from Haas Automation, Inc. (Oxnard, CA) delivers extreme positioning flexibility that is perfect for any shop needing to machine complex parts in a single setup. This 40-taper vertical machining center has 30 in x 20 in x 20 in travels, a unique arrangement of the rotary axes, and a powerful 8,100 rpm inline direct-drive spindle (12,000 rpm optional) driven by a 30 hp vector drive system. The machine comes standard with a 40+1 tool side-mount tool changer. High speed machining control software is standard and the machine includes Dynamic Work Offsets, Tool Center Point Control, and a Wireless Intuitive Probing System to simplify job set up. The rotary axes are configured differently: The rotating platter is replaced with a 33 in x 14.75 in fixed table on which an HRT210 rotary table with an A-frame support is mounted.

A number of high productivity options are available as well, including a belt-type chip conveyor, a high-pressure through-spindle coolant system, expanded program memory, and much more. Although head porting is one of the things this machine is built for, the possibilities don’t stop there: this configuration is also well suited for such complex profiled shapes as turbine blades, and the included A-frame support allows parts to run in a more traditional tombstone setup such as those found on a HMC. Simply load up multiple sides of a tombstone to gain more parts per cycle.
