Mapal Opens Second Site in Mexico
Their new factory in Querétaro increases production capacity for reconditioning tools and will eventually create 100 new jobs.

Mapal Frhenosa (Monterrey, Mexico), a joint venture by the Mapal Dr. Kress AG (Aalen, Germany), is stepping up their activities in Mexico by building a second branch in Santiago de Querétaro that gives them an operation in the heart of the country for the first time. The opening ceremony was held at the end of January and was attended by numerous representatives of the worlds of business and politics. Mexico has signed free trade and co-operation agreements with more than 60 countries and is a strategically important location for the international Mapal Group, with abundant potential for development. Approximately €2.3 million was invested in constructing the new branch.
Mapal Frhenosa occupies a leading position in the precision tools market in Mexico and employs roughly 120 people. Their new factory in Querétaro gives them considerably more production capacity for reconditioning tools, as well as eventually creating 100 new jobs. “This second site gives us the opportunity to cut our response times quite a bit while also meeting the ever-more challenging requirements of our customers,” said Dr. Jochen Kress, the president of the Mapal Group. In recent years, Querétaro has flourished into a major hub for the international automotive and aerospace industries.
Alongside customized process systems for machining all types workpiece materials, Mapal Frhenosa offers rapid reconditioning of PCD tools and regrinding of solid carbide tools in both Monterrey and Querétaro. The two factories use identical machinery and production processes and comply with the exacting international standards of the organization. “For us, creating this new capacity is an investment in the future. We aim to keep on growing,” added Lazaro Garza, the chief executive officer of Mapal Frhenosa in Mexico.
