Air Tools Designed for Cobots
Outfitting a cobot from Universal Robots with a Dynabrade sander can automate and streamline repetitive or potentially unsafe processes to increase productivity, reduce injury and provide consistency of finish at all levels of production.

Dynabrade, Inc. (Clarence, NY) has developed a relationship and pilot program with Universal Robots USA Inc. (UR; Ann Arbor, MI), pioneers of the collaborative robot, or cobot, a programmable, multi-axis, articulating robotic arm to which a variety of attachments or tools can connect. Dynabrade engineers have adapted the traditional design of the following air tools for attachment to the cobot:
- 5 in Dynorbital Supreme Random Orbital Sander, 3/16 in and 3/32 in orbits offered.
- 6 in Dynorbital Supreme Random Orbital Sander, 3/16 in and 3/32 in orbits offered.
- 2¾ in X 8 in Dynaline In-Line Sander, 3/8 in stroke.
- 3-2/3 in X 7 in Dynabug Orbital Finishing Sander, 3/32 in orbit.
Each tool is designed to securely attach to the arm of a UR cobot by means of a Millibar Tool Changer and End Effector that are controlled via a programmable solenoid. Releasing tension on the Millibar Tool Changer lever allows operators to swap tools quickly and easily, without the need for additional tooling. The cobot arm outfitted with a Dynabrade tool can be used at all levels of production to help increase productivity, reduce injury and provide consistency of finish. Further, a UR cobot arm and Dynabrade tool combination can automate and streamline repetitive or potentially unsafe processes.
