With a population of 120 million, Mexico is the second biggest economy in Latin America and stands out on the continent for its stability and regular growth. It is the seventh largest global automotive industry player, producing 3.7 million vehicles in 2017. An electro-mobility market with strong growth potential is also emerging in the country.
Fives Grinding Mexico (Aguascalientes, Mexico) recently held an open house to celebrate their new facility and showcase the operations created by the partnership of Fives Grinding | Ultra Precision (Hagerstown, MD) and Mexican machine tool rebuilder Simsa (Aguascalientes). This new business has 15 employees recruited from Simsa and hosts a design office and a 2,500 sq m workshop with measurement and inspection equipment needed to certify modernized machine tools. They work closely with Fives Landis Corporation (Hagerstown) and share their design capacities.
For over two decades, Fives has worked with Simsa to develop its machine offer in Mexico and has already supplied over 120 camshaft or crankshaft grinders, centerless grinders, double disc grinders, cylindrical grinders, etc. in the country under their Landis, Giustina and Daisho brands. Fives Grinding Mexico now provides direct support for modernizing full production systems, including production of commodity machines to complement the process equipment already offered by Fives, and service solutions throughout the machine lifecycle: optimization of operations and modernization, maintenance, diagnostics, and training.
