In Booth B-8817, Master Magnetics, Inc. (The Magnet Source®; Castle Rock, CO) will display their family of jig magnets that provide welders with fast and easy set-up, precise positioning and unbeatable holding strength. Magnetic Welding Squares: On/Off magnetic welding squares are easy to use – just place these extremely powerful neodymium On/Off magnets on two mating steel surfaces to accurately position material for welding. A simple push of the handle allows users to turn the handle to the ‘On’ position and secure for working. A reverse turn disengages the magnet and allows for safe storage. Additionally, On/Off magnetic welding squares allow for fast set-up as well as accurate and powerful holding. These magnets, which come with pre-tapped holes on all sides for versatile mounting, work on both flat and round stock. Although not used for lifting, the pull of these magnets ranges between 150 lb and 1,000 lb on flat stock. Users can feel confident these welding magnets will securely hold material during welding.
Workholding Jig Magnets: These On/Off magnets are constructed with rare earth neodymium magnets, providing superior holding power coupled with strong sheer strength to help prevent side-to-side movement. Permanent magnets do not require any sort of external power source. Once in place, simply turn the handle to the “On” position to activate for instant holding force. When done, turn the handle to “Off” to deactivate the magnet for repositioning. Two magnets per fixture are recommended to avoid pivoting. Workholding jig magnets securely mount to any ferrous table saw, fence or other steel surface with the twist of a knob. These On/Off Magnets are ideal for:
- Holding a cove molding jig in place.
- Creating custom featherboards.
- Holding a repetitive stop in place.
- Creating a fence for power tools.
To create custom jigs and fixtures, use with standard .75 in material, drill a hole with a Forstner bit and drop in the on/off workholding magnet. These magnets are available in four models, ranging from 95 lb to 150 lb pull.
