In Booth S-338536, Absolute Machine Tools, Inc. (Lorain, OH) will debut the new AccuteX AL-600SA CNC wire EDM machine. To celebrate the occasion, Absolute has partnered with ESPRIT (Camarillo, CA) CAD/CAM software and Marposs (Auburn Hills, MI) probing systems and will host an interesting part demonstration showing the solid model and part transfer all the way through the complete wire EDM process, and how the application is accomplished easily, efficiently and accurately.
The AL-600SA moving-table model will be fully equipped with 6-axis capability, PCD cutting circuit, and exclusive linear shaft motors that provide a ten-year positioning guarantee. These world-class motors were designed and built fully in-house specifically for AccuteX wire EDM machines. This concept ensures world-class precision and performance with its maintenance-free design, 10 percent faster cutting, HIWIN linear guideways, 0.000004 in Fagor glass scales and 64 bit processing, S-cut fine finish skimming (9 RA µin surface finish), and enhanced lead in/lead out control that eliminates witness marks at entry and exit points. Accuracy is achieved at ±0.00012 in (0.003 mm) and repeatability ±0.00008 in (0.002 mm). MST-II Micro Sparking Technology comes standard for surface finishes down to 5 Ra µin in five passes.
The AL-600SAi comes standard with patented fully-annealing automatic wire threading (AWT) and the ability to perform submerged machining up to 11.81 in (300 mm) deep. Travels are 23.62 in X-axis, 15.74 in Y-axis, 11.81 in Z-axis, and 3.94 in U- and V-axes. Maximum workpiece size (XYZ) is 38.97 in x 24.41 in x 11.61 in (990 mm x 621 mm x 295 mm) with a max workpiece weight of 2,450 lb (1,113 kg).
Also on display will be new and improved GE-SAi and GE-SAiL wire EDM machines that feature ergonomic enhancements and a choice of either traditional ball screw (SAi) or AccuteX linear motion (SAiL) axis drive systems. Live demos of the lead in/out, S-Cut and automatic wire threading will be held during the show. GE (Great Economy) series machines are engineered for reliable, economical production of small parts and components. Their new ergonomic, space-saving design includes a drop door and three-sided table, (back rail optional) as well as AccuteX patented fully annealing automatic wire threading (AWT) and ability to perform submerged machining up to 8 in (195 mm) deep. Both models comes in both traditional ball screw and linear motor design.
The GE-SAiL takes the great economy of the GE series to a whole new level of performance and value. With the implementation of the AccuteX linear motor, the GE-SAiL offers capabilities such as S-Cut Fine finish skimming, enhanced lead in/out control to eliminate witness marks at the entry and exit points, 10 percent faster cutting and ten-year positioning guarantee on the linear motor. Model GE-43SAi, GE-43SAiL, and GE-43F machines have X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis travels of 15.75 in (393 mm), 11.81 in (295 mm) and 8.66 in (216 mm), respectively. U-axis and V-axis travels are 2.36 in (59 mm). Axis travels are identical for the larger GE-53SAi machine, with the exception of greater 19.50 in (487 mm) travel in X. Maximum workpiece size (XYZ) is 29.52 in x 24.80 in x 8.46 in (738 mm x 620 mm x 211 mm) for all models except the GE-53i, which can handle a 32.67 in (816 mm) in X and 1,300 lb of weight.
“These updated wire EDMs expand upon the GE series’ reputation as an economical machine wrapped in a reliable high performance package,” said Steve Ortner, the president and owner of Absolute Machine Tools. “Enhanced ergonomic function speeds production, and the choice of ballscrew or linear drive enables shops to tailor performance and economy to their specific budget and needs.”
