Faster and Easier Machine Tool Sump Cleaning
The Sump Shark SE15 single-phase electric and SA5 air-operated sump cleaners from CECOR help maintain machine tool coolant by filtering dirty coolant and making the cleaning process faster and easier.

An important part of coolant maintenance is filtering the metal chips and swarf from the coolant. Chips and sludge at the bottom of the sump can cause microbial growth which leads to smelly coolant and the risk of dermititis, which is an uncomfortable skin rash. Metal chips circulating through the machine can mar the workpiece and the machine tool. In Booth E-121023, CECOR (Belleville, WI) will have live demonstrations of their SE15 single-phase electric and SA5 air-operated Sump Shark sump cleaners that help maintain machine tool coolant by filtering dirty coolant and making the cleaning process faster and easier. With suction lifts up to 26 in Hg (350 in water) a Sump Shark can suck up an entire sump of metalworking fluid entrained with sludge and metal chips in just minutes, or seconds, depending on sump size. The solids are caught in the onboard filter as the coolant passes into the tank. Pump-filtered coolant out of the tank through the discharge port hose.
The speed of the Sump Shark will be demonstrated by sucking out a 30 gal tank filled with water, metal chips, sludge and gravel. This sump cleaner is much easier to use and faster than pail and shovel, shop vacuum or diaphragm pump. Doing the job faster will decrease labor costs and machine tool downtime. Using coolant longer and disposing of less will cut costs even further. The SE15 can be plugged into any standard 110 v electric unit. The SA5 conveniently operates on shop air. These sump cleaners have overfill protection and all discharge ports are valved. Units comes complete with hoses, quick-disconnect coupler, suction tools and filter bags. Optional F23 filter (2.3 cu ft) is available for coolant heavy with chips and swarf. DF4 discharge filter is available for second stage, very fine filtering.
