Sonny Leonard and the team from Sonny’s World Class Racing (Lynchburg, VA), have volunteered to build a high performance engine for the Sunnen (St. Louis, MO) Engine Charity Sweepstakes at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI; Aliso Viejo, CA) trade show. This will be the 30th anniversary of the sweepstakes, with all proceeds going to Victory Junction, Inc. (Randleman, NC), a camp for children living with serious medical conditions founded by NASCAR’s Petty family. The winning ticket will be drawn at the show in Indianapolis that will be held December 6-8, 2018.
This year’s engine is a custom-built 727 cu in hemi engine valued at more than $60,000. The engine will include: Sonny’s fully in-house ported hemispherical cylinder heads, the Brodix 5.000 B.S. block with 1.000 in raised cam with special hi-flow water jackets, a Bryant billet crank, Carrillo steel billet rods, and much more.
