InspecVision high speed, integrated 2D measurement systems from MC Machinery Systems can be used by sheet metal shops to quickly measure or reverse engineer flat parts that have been cut on laser, plasma and waterjet systems, as well as punched and some stamped parts. InspecVision 3D measurement systems can also measure the critical features of sheet metal parts, including hole size and position defined by the part’s edges, not its surfaces.

MC Machinery Systems Inc. (Elk Grove Village, IL), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation, has partnered with InspecVision Planar US (Plymouth, MN) to offer the next generation of precision metrology: InspecVision, a high speed, integrated 2D and 3D measurement system that brings speed, accuracy and reliability to a shop’s measurement quality process. InspecVision Planar 2D systems can be used to quickly measure or reverse engineer flat parts that have been manufactured on laser, plasma and waterjet cutting systems, as well as punched and some stamped parts. Planar users range from small job shops to multibillion-dollar companies in almost every industry that uses sheet metal, including aerospace, electronics and communication, and automotive.

The InspecVision Opti-Scan 3D system uses a high speed, high resolution industrial camera, and an LED DLP projector to scan the surfaces of an object. Patterns of light are beamed from the projector onto the part and these patterns are recorded by the camera and used to create surface measurements. This system also features a back-light table to capture the silhouette of a part. This silhouette image is then converted into 3D edge measurements using patented Planar Edge 3DTM technology . . . 3D edges are essential when measuring the critical features of sheet metal parts, including the hole size and position, which are defined by the part’s edges, not its surfaces. Available in a range of sizes and accuracies, these InspecVision systems can be installed on the factory floor and are easy for staff to operate, helping to cut expensive inspection bottlenecks.
