An MRO operation that reconditions and repairs aircraft after a certain amount of flight hours uses the roof-mounted 7-axis XRHGantry X-ray system from VisiConsult GmbH (Stockelsdorf, Germany) for high-end nondestructive testing of all safety relevant aerospace components, including the integrity of high-critical turbine parts and more. Heavy parts are moved into the inspection room using the mobile turntable or an overhead crane, and throughput and operating costs have been significantly reduced through the use of digital technology to detect the smallest cracks or other defects inside each component for repair. The Xplus image enhancement system ensures brilliant images with proven certified image quality to meet the demanding standards of NADCAP, Boeing or Airbus.
The flexible XRHGantry can fulfill the most demanding test requirements. A special highlight is the tilting axis that enables elliptical inspection of double wall welds to achieve a direct film replacement. Using extensive axes and a small focal spot, a strong magnification is possible. Its ultra-precise motors can be used to automate existing techniques into CNC sequences. This system is particularly well-known in the aerospace industry for the testing of composites and tube welds. Layout and dimensions are always adapted to customer requirements. Even in existing X-ray rooms, this roof-mounted system can be easily installed as a retrofit.
