Vero Software Expands Application Engineering Staff
Darin Weatherbee and Chris LaFleur support Edgecam and Surfcam users, and Kevin Wedderburn supports SMIRT users.

Vero Software (Forest Lake, MN) hired new applications engineer Darin Weatherbee to support the growth of their Edgecam and Surfcam systems. As a 20-year team member for Surfcam reseller CAMCAD Technologies, Inc. (Winter Springs, FL), he provided frontline support for Surfcam products as well as DNC installation, configuration and support. Weatherbee is also knowledgeable about HTML, Server and Client OS, as well as virtual machines and serial hardware.“I am looking forward to working with this team and providing excellent customer support,” said Weatherbee.
The company also hired new applications engineer Chris LaFleur to deliver technical support to users of their Edgecam and Surfcam software. After earning a degree in mechanical engineering in 2001, LaFleur joined the team of Surfcam reseller DM Solutions, Inc. (Sandown, NH), where he provided pre- and post-sales support for Surfcam Traditional, Surfcam, and other software packages. In his role with DM Solutions, he also handled presentation preparation, training, post-processor configuration, and application and licensing support for those products. “After spending 17 years working with our great customers in the Northeast U.S., it’s exciting to join the global team here,” said LaFleur. “I feel like I was just called up to the big leagues. It will be interesting to see the projects, challenges, and solutions on a wider scale through our user base.”
The company has also hired new application engineer Kevin Wedderburn to support customers who use their SMIRT software for the tooling industry. Based in the Southfield, MI, office, Wedderburn will lend his extensive academic and practical expertise to the success of SMIRT users. “I am really excited about joining this team. I look forward to playing an instrumental role in supporting our SMIRT users, both locally and globally,” said Wedderburn. “When I think of my role as application engineer, it pleases me to know that I will have the opportunity to learn a variety of cutting-edge software applications pertinent to the automotive tool and die industry. I am eager to use that knowledge to enhance our customers’ experience with our various software applications.”
Wedderburn graduated from Morgan State University in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in engineering physics, and went on to obtain a master’s degree in applied physics from North Carolina A&T State University in 2004. He has since worked as a physics instructor and tutor at the community college level, and as a CNC machinist for the past five and a half years. Having gained a great deal of experience in CNC machining, Wedderburn has chosen to expand his manufacturing career in the support realm by joining this team.
