Single Source Technologies (SST; Auburn Hills, MI), a global distributor of leading machine tool and consumable brands, recently held a ribbon-cutting to officially open their new facility in New Britain, CT, with the mayor Erin Stewart in attendance. This facility is going to serve as their EDM consumable headquarters and is now the largest EDM consumables site in North America, giving SST the ability to better reach manufacturers seeking machine tools and EDM supplies and offer greater product diversity, including the full line of Makino, Inc. (Mason, OH) machine tools.
“The ribbon-cutting of this new building marks a significant milestone for New Britain, as manufacturing is a stronghold in our community’s history and economy,” remarked Stewart. “Our goal is to support regional manufacturers and progress our economic development plan to build a world-class technology corridor.”
“Global EDM Supplies (Cincinnati, OH) has deep roots in New Britain, and with that comes strong customer relationships and an experienced employee base that we wanted to sustain and grow. Even though we have a new name and new facility, we are the same people dedicated to fueling the manufacturing industry within this region,” said Tom Kucharski, consumable sales and operations manager for SST.
With this modern high-tech facility, the opportunity exists to grow the history, leadership and established philosophy around the consumables business within the region and beyond. With a facility to showcase an expanded product portfolio, heightened application expertise and increased geographical reach, SST plans to offer valuable, comprehensive process support to current and prospective users with the utmost quality and seamless business operations.
“The year 2017 marks a renewed vision for us and SST,” noted Andre Ey, the vice president of EDM sales for Makino. “This facility is a step toward our long-term strategy to provide users with total process systems that ensure they get the best possible consumable tools to run their operations effectively. We are committed to nurturing our experienced personnel, growing our reach and offerings to help the manufacturing industry meet new economic and product demands.”
The 40,000 sq ft space is set to open November 18 and is designed to house the combined workforce of SST Consumables and Global EDM Supplies, including the service, application, sales and operation departments. Additionally, a Makino showroom is incorporated into the building for machine demonstrations and training, along with an ample warehouse to ensure product availability and quick delivery.
