Shown here on display at the Iron & Steel Technology Conference and Exposition AISTech, the CONTOUR CHECK EDGE is a 2-6 axes contour measuring system for hot-rolled round and square profiles that uses a set of sensors on a circular oscillating baseplate to handle square, flat or hexagonal profiles and allow for 100 percent inline contour measurement, detection of rolling defects, and dimensional surface inspection of long products, helping to increase efficiency and to ensure product quality at rolling mills during production.

In their 14 in rolling mill, SBQ steel manufacturer Alton Steel Inc. (Alton, IL) uses two CONTOUR CHECK EDGE 2-6 axes contour measuring systems from LAP Laser, LLC (Hebron, KY) to measure hot-rolled round and square profiles. Each system uses a set of sensors on a circular oscillating baseplate to handle square, flat or hexagonal profiles. These contour measuring systems allows for 100 percent inline contour measurement, detection of rolling defects, and dimensional surface inspection of long products, helping to increase efficiency and to ensure product quality at the rolling mill during production.
