Drill, Thread Mill and Chamfer in One Operation

The new 3-in-1 TMDR solid carbide thread milling tool from Vargus USA (Janesville, WI) does drilling, thread milling and chamfering (TMDR), all in one tooling operation. The high quality tool does not require pre-drilled holes and can work immediately on the surface of a part that has pre-drilled holes, such as blind holes, through holes, and even semi-finished holes.
TMDR tools are offered for full profile applications with and without coolant, and are suitable for a wide range of materials such as steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals and more. Tool features include:

• Thread Lengths = 2xDo and 2.5xDo (thread diameter)
• Thread standards = ISO Metric: from M3x0.5 up to M23x2.0; American UN: from No. 4-40 up to 3/8×16.
• Grade = the TMDR tool is available in the general purpose VTS grade, coated with TiCN for high resistance to wear.

The TMDR is integrated into GENius™ software for tool selection and cutting data, ready to meet the most demanding threading requirements. For extra deep threads, Vargus introduces the TM Solid HCN extended length tool, their most recent highlight to the noteworthy TM Solid Helicool line: helical flutes with coolant thru. The HCN features a long relief that reduces cutting forces when threading up to 3xDo (thread diameter). TM Solid HCN tools are designed with exclusive geometry that places them at the forefront of reduced machining times for long thread operations. They are available in the popular VTH grade, a general purpose, heavy duty thread milling grade, coated with TiCN for high resistance to wear.
