Arisa Delivers World’s Most Powerful Servo Press

Spanish press builder Arisa (Logrona, Spain), a subsidiary of Nidec Minster Corporation (Minster, OH), is set to begin shipping the world’s most powerful servo press — featuring two slides with a combined stamping force of more than 5,000 tons (45,000 kN) — to multi-national automotive stamping giant Gestamp Automacion (Madrid, Spain), which will take delivery of the press at their Bielfeld, Germany, facility in anticipation of launching full scale production in April of 2017.

With die space of more than 9 sq m, this press is powered by six Siemens servo motors featuring a state-of-the-art Energy Management System. From the foundation to the crown, the 52 ft high press will require in excess of 40 truckloads to ship. The press will feature an Arisa-designed transfer mechanism that allows high tensile material to travel through the die space at top production rates while maintaining the precise part tolerances required by Gestamp. This turnkey system will also include fully integrated controls, production software and automated quick die changing units.

Arisa’s large capacity product offering continues to expand. In addition to this 5,000-ton servo press, they have also received an order for a 4,500 ton (40,000 kN) mechanical transfer press destined for a Michigan stamping plant with an expected production start-up of early 2018. The company was acquired by Nidec in 2015, allowing them to increase their global footprint and diversify product offering.

We have plans to produce Arisa presses at our Minster facility, and we are expanding our capabilities around the world to meet the exciting challenges of a customer base that has no boundaries.”

In addition to manufacturing locations in Ohio, Spain and Pinghu, China, Nidec Minster maintains customer service centers with common repair parts in stock, technical support staff, and remanufacturing capabilities in Halbelch, Germany; Querétaro, Mexico; and Ningbo, China.
