Motion Industries Acquires OBBCO

This deal strengthens their market position in personal protective equipment, hazardous storage units, first aid supplies and gas detection equipment.

Motion Industries, Inc. (Birmingham, AL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Genuine Parts Company (Atlanta, GA), has entered into a definitive agreement whereby they have agreed to acquire OBBCO Safety & Supply, LLC (Chesapeake, Va.). Transaction closing is expected to occur August 1, 2016.

OBBCO is an industrial safety distributor that provides products from over 100 safety supply manufacturers that include a wide range of personal protective equipment, as well as other essentials such as hazardous storage units, first aid supplies, and gas detection equipment. In business since 1985, they serve a variety of customers and end markets, from small businesses to large national corporations, and will continue operations under their existing management team. “We look forward to the opportunities that they will bring to our employees and our customers,” said OBBCO owner Mike Bryant. “This will provide us with the ability to expand our footprint in the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond, combining over 30 years of safety solution expertise with the national distribution footprint of Motion Industries.”
