Walter Surface Technologies Inc. (Montreal, QC / Windsor, CT), a global leader in surface treatment technologies, announced the launch of its next generation of corded grinders, featuring eight redesigned and one new power tool, the Pro 5™.
Built to optimize Walter’s world class line of abrasives, the grinders maximize productivity, provide optimal power in every cutting, grinding, sanding and cleaning application. The redesigned grinders feature an ergonomic, anti-vibration side handle, a tool-free guard, and an exclusive safety clutch that neutralizes momentum and eliminates dangerous backlash.
Small Angle Grinders
The Walter Small Angle Grinders: Mini-Grinder™ and the Super 5™, were specifically designed for work in smaller metalworking shops and maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) shops. Both the Mini-Grinder and the Super 5, feature improved power and improved ergonomics. “The grinders are AC/DC compatible, and come with the Quick-R™ release system, allowing for fast wheel changes without using any tools,” explains Stéphane Drainville, the product manager of tooling and power tools. “This makes them perfectly suitable for use at any job site.”
Versatile Small Angle Grinder
The Mini-Plus™ is Walter’s most versatile “do-it-all” grinder. “It eliminates the need for multiple tools,” adds Drainville. The Mini-Plus includes all of Walter’s new and improved features, including the Powerguard™ overload protection, Dynamax™ RPM monitoring, Variable Dialspeed™, and more. It is specifically designed for the person working on various applications throughout the facility. The Mini-Plus also features the Stabilizer™ technology, which adds comfort and increases the life of the tool up to 30 percent, and up to 200 percent for the life of the grinding or sanding discs.
Maximum Productivity Grinders
The Big 6™ and the Pro 5, were built to withstand constant heavy-duty applications and for long periods of use. “We really focused on productivity and improved efficiency – the two key aspects that define the Big 6 and the Pro 5,” adds Drainville. “There is really no comparable 5 in grinder on the market when looking at removal rates or cutting time. It’s really in a class of its own – especially if you pair it with our abrasives, that’s when you’ll really see the difference.” Both the Big 6 and the Pro 5, include Powerguard, Dynamax, and the new Stabilizer features.
Maximum Safety Grinders
The Maximum Safety Grinders offer maximum safety without compromising on performance. The Mini PS, the Super 5-PS™ and the Big 6-PS™, all feature a double action, non-locking paddle-switch, which ensures that the grinder will stop when the switch is released. In addition, the Super 5-PS has been upgraded with safety features such as the Powerguard overheat protection, Dynamax, Soft Start™ to prevent unsafe start-up kick, and Safety Restart™ to ensure that the grinder will not turn on accidentally if plugged in while turned on. The Big 6-PS, includes all of these safety features, but with an exclusive mechanical brake system that allows it to stop within two seconds of the trigger being released, making it the safest grinder on the market. It’s also equipped with the Stabilizer feature.
