The 2016 edition of the International Manufacturing Technology Show is on track to be one of the largest IMTS events ever at McCormick Place in Chicago from September 12-17. This special sneak peek provides technical reviews of some of the machinery, tooling, systems and accessories that will be exhibited to help you get a head start on navigating the show floor and managing your time while you’re there.

This pavilion is the home of metrology equipment and systems that keep processes on track for absolute confidence and security in the quality of output, including equipment that can check the accuracy of machines to protect a shop’s investments. Shops can learn how to reduce their necessity for stand-alone work cells through increased inspection abilities for both materials and features. Here is a sneak peek at some of the metrology equipment and systems that will be exhibited on the show floor:

Portable Coordinate Measuring Machine for High-End 3D Measurement
The new ROMER Absolute Arm 77 Series PCMM from Hexagon is ideal for safety-critical applications in aerospace, defense, medical, and more.

Versatile One-Click 2D Measuring Systems
With one click, the Quick Image series 2D vision measuring system from Mitutoyo automatically detects workpiece position and inclination, and batch measures up to 1,000 parts with the same shape in one setting.

Automated Measurement of Smaller Shafts, Turned Parts on the Shop Floor
The competitively priced MarShaft SCOPE 250 plus flexible optical system from Mahr Federal uses a highly accurate matrix camera with four million pixels to provide fast, accurate, fully automatic shop floor measurement of smaller shafts and turned parts up to 250 mm long and 40 mm diameter.

Unique Bore Gage for Fast, Precise Hole Measurement
The compact, portable PG Bore Gage from Sunnen provides lab-precise accuracy that’s mountable on machining stations to examine the entire bore for diameter, taper, barrel, bell mouth, out-of-round and lobing.

Machine Enhancement Technology
Hardware and software systems from Caron Engineering provide more intelligent machining that is focused on unattended operation, machine process diagnostics, cycle time reduction, and eliminating operator error.

New Gage for Micro Tool Inspection
The PG1000-400S-4K inspection gage from Euro-Tech offers higher accuracy inspections through true 4K inspection capability, magnification to 400X and X-micron linear scales that are ideal for micro tool inspection.

Next Generation Tool Presetters
Elbo Controlli E46L and E46L TW tool presetters from Koma Precision eliminate adaptor errors and automatically identify the spindle holder after each replacement, eliminating operator error.
