Yaskawa Motoman offers MotoSim Touch, a cost-effective, PC-based off-line programming environment and robotics simulation tool for K-16 schools, training organizations and educational research institutions that provides instructors and students with a fully functional production environment for Yaskawa industrial robots and FS100 controller. It delivers a “real world” virtual robotics experience at a fraction of the cost of purchasing an industrial robot.

Featuring one station with a welding table suitable for customized parat fixtures in an extremely compact footprint, the ArcWorld® C-30 workcell from Yaskawa Motoman (Dayton, OH) is an affordable solution for the welding of small to medium-sized parts that are typical in many job shop applications. The ArcWorld C-30 system offers all the components needed for arc welding, including a six-axis MA1440 arc welding robot, DX200 controller with menu-driven arc welding application software, integrated welding package, operator station, pneumatic powered slide-up doors and a total safety environment.

The total safety environment complies with both U.S. and Canadian safety standards. Powered slide-up doors improve ergonomics and are interlocked with robot operation to safeguard the operator during part load/unload. In addition to barrier guarding with solid sheet metal side and back walls, safety features include a single point of operator control, Functional Safety Unit (FSU) to monitor the robot, enhanced E-stop functionality, safety interlocked gates, integrated speed monitoring and manual brake release for the robot. Both new and experienced welding programmers can benefit from using the Kinetiq Teaching™ option available with the ArcWorld C-30. Direct teaching is more intuitive and reduces programming time. Its app-style, icon-based menus are easy for personnel to learn. Users can significantly reduce training and programming time for low-volume, high-mix batch production.

Shipped pre-assembled on a common base with cables routed in a covered tray under the table for improved life and minimized trip hazard, ArcWorld C-30 workcells are easy to set up and relocate.

Yaskawa Motoman has also introduced a complete virtual industrial robotics solution for education in MotoSim® Touch, a cost-effective, PC-based off-line programming environment and robotics simulation tool for K-16 schools, training organizations and educational research institutions. It provides instructors and students with a fully functional production environment for Yaskawa industrial robots and FS100 controller. It also delivers a “real world” virtual robotics experience at a fraction of the cost of purchasing an industrial robot.

The package includes MotoSim Touch, a programming pendant and MotoSim EG-VRC (MotoSim Enhanced Graphics – Virtual Robot Controller) for Education. MotoSim Touch allows students to toggle between a virtual pendant and a hardware pendant. In either mode, they utilize MotoSim EG-VRC for Education, a comprehensive off-line programming and simulation software package. The virtual pendant and hardware pendant both utilize the easy-to-use INFORM III programming language. “We feel that this represents a major workforce development-driven product that will help bridge the education community to industrial robotic automation companies,” said Bob Graff, a senior sales manager for education at Yaskawa Motoman.

This STEM-aligned environment gives students a hands-on experience for robotic modeling and programming, and it teaches industry-recognized, career ready robotics skills. Users can become proficient with a wide variety of robot functions, such as robot path, speed, enhanced multiple robot control, independent/coordinated motion, and external axis control and coordination. Students can create robotic applications that include programming, modeling and diagnostics in the simulation environment. Those applications can be saved to a flash drive so that the user can move his or her program from the simulation environment directly to the classroom robot. At this time, MotoSim Touch is available only to the educational market.
