New Wire Offers Higher Deposition Rates and Travel Speeds for Welding Heavy Equipment

Ideal for heavy equipment welding and for equipment used in severe service conditions, the new FabCO 85HXP gas-shielded flux-cored wire from Hobart Brothers can operate at higher wire feed speeds to increase deposition rates and travel speeds on thicker materials for higher productivity.

Posted: May 31, 2016

FabCO 85HXP gas-shielded flux-cored wire is well suited for flat and horizontal welding of up to 6 in to 8 in thick materials used in earth moving equipment, non-alloyed and fine grain steels, heavy fabrication applications and manufacturing equipment used in severe service conditions. The wire features a basic slag system that provides increased toughness, along with excellent low temperature impact strength. Its low hydrogen levels help mitigate cracking risks and costly rework.

Hobart Brothers Company (Troy, OH) has announced the availability of its new FabCO® 85HXP gas-shielded flux-cored wire. Offering high wire feed speed potential, the wire increases deposition rates and travel speeds to improve productivity, particularly when welding thick materials up to 6 in to 8 in. It is well suited for for flat and horizontal welding of earth moving equipment, non-alloyed and fine grain steels, as well as for heavy fabrication applications and the manufacture of equipment for use in severe service conditions.

FabCO 85HXP wire features a basic slag system that provides increased toughness, along with excellent low temperature impact strength. Low hydrogen levels (3.0 ml per 100 g of weldment) help mitigate cracking risks and costly rework. The wire operates with 100 percent CO2 and has an American Welding Society (AWS; Miami, FL) classification of E70T-5CJ H4. The FabCO 85HXP wire is available in 3/32 in diameter on 50 lb coils.
