LPW Technology Ltd. (Runcorn, UK) are extremely proud winners of a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade 2016, the most prestigious corporate achievement that any UK business can attain as a seal of approval for outstanding performance.

Entrepreneur Dr. Phil Carroll founded the high tech company — which produces and supplies metal powders for and develops applications used in 3D printing — just nine years ago from his kitchen table in Cheshire. The company is now a global market leader with 60 highly skilled staff working from the head office in Runcorn; from a fast growing facility in Pittsburgh, PA; an office in Germany; and a network of resellers around the world.

The company also houses world-leading laboratory equipment to optimize and analyse powder and has developed a unique portfolio of products and software to increase yield and reduce risk in the additive manufacturing process. Their team has unrivaled knowledge in developing applications and specialist materials, particularly for the high-tech aerospace, F1, and medical implant industries.

Delighted to receive Royal recognition, Carroll said he will be treating his team to a traditional British afternoon tea day to celebrate. “I am absolutely thrilled that LPW have received a Queen’s Award. I am so proud of my exceptional team for rising to the exciting challenges presented to a fast growing business. Such a prestigious award reflects the skill and dedication of all our staff in growing a sustainable, UK-based technical company working alongside aerospace and medical device industries where quality and traceability are paramount.”

The company’s overseas sales have grown by over 300 percent during the last three years with the proportion of sales exported increasing to 70 percent of total sales.

“We have developed our business strategy to take advantage of emerging production technologies and geographies. As the company has grown we have opened our wholly owned subsidiary in Pittsburgh to serve the North and South American markets, extended our direct sales through Germany and built up a talented network of trained representatives throughout Europe and Asia,” Carroll added. “The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade reflects the commitment and technical capability of all our staff building relationships around the world to grow our UK headquartered business.”

He will be presented with the award by Her Majesty during a glittering, once in a lifetime reception held at Buckingham Palace on July 14.
