IRMCO® (International Refining & Manufacturing Co.; Evanston, IL) Stamping Lubricants, through a cooperative partnership with Bennett Tool & Die Co., Inc. (Nashville, TN), has built upon the proud legacy of Dr. Taylan Altan at Ohio State University and the Center for Precision Forming and has developed the iTOOL cup-draw process, a tool and test method to directly compare stamping lubricant performance prior to use in production. Based on the time-tested cup-drawing process, the iTOOL cup-draw process measures and compares frictional forces and deformation temperatures of one or more lubricants compared to the incumbent lubricant. Customer supplied metal blanks are used to evaluate lubricants to assure the closest correlation to actual production conditions experienced in the field
Housed in a 300 ton AIDA Servo Press, the iTOOL cup-draw process allows for exceptional reproducibility and control of test parameters and data collection. No other stamping lubricant company in the world can offer this in-house capability.
