Joining the staff at Hobart Institute of Welding Technology (HIWT; Troy OH) is Brian Sheward, who will be teaching the skill of welding to students in the Structural Welding Program and in the Combination Structural and Pipe Welding Program. He joins the Institute with over 25 years of welding experience. Sheward is a 1989 graduate of the Institute and will be sharing his education and experience with the students. Prior to coming to HIWT, he worked for National Oilwell Varco as a UAW journeyman millwright. “I had a wonderful experience when I attended here and I’m looking forward to being a part of the students’ experience,” says Sheward.
Ron Scott, the vice president and general manager of the Institute, added, “Brian will be a great addition to our staff. He is certainly willing to share his experience and knowledge of welding with others.” Sheward resides in Springfield, OH, with his wife. He also has four kids and two grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys motorsports racing and spending time with his family.
Justin Wilson is another new technical training instructor. He is an American Welding Society (AWS) certified welding inspector and brings over ten years of welding and inspection experience to his new role. Wilson is a 2005 graduate of the Institute who previously worked for Effox (Cincinnati, OH). “I am looking forward to applying my experience and knowledge to my new career as a technical training instructor,” stated Wilson. “I started welding right after high school and I have training experience with blueprint reading, welding and fabrication.”
“We are pleased to have Justin as part of our staff,” noted Elmer Swank, the senior technical instructor. “He will be teaching Welding Technology and Blueprint Reading, Advanced Blueprint Reading and Weldability of Metals, Ferrous and Nonferrous skill courses and will also be instructing various technical courses.” Wilson resides in Vandalia, OH, with his wife and 10-year-old stepson.
