The FXR Milling Boring Machine from Soraluce (Bergara, Spain) has been awarded with the international distinction for high design quality after proving its design excellence in the most important international competition. From a record number of 5,214 participants from 57 nations, this machine tool stood out as the winner of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016, as being one of this year’s best of the industry.

The Red Dot jury, consisting of 41 expert independent designers, design professors and specialized journalists, discussed all entries live and on site according to their strict statutes.

Within the Danobat Group, Soraluce is integrated and supported by Dhemen, a company dedicated to industrial design. Together, they have created a new range of machines that revolutionize the market by incorporating a design with greater ergonomics and safety that responds to the needs of the operator in advanced manufacturing.

“Customers have realized that the new generation of our machines goes beyond the frontiers of production,” explains Ibon Roman, the head of industrial design at Soraluce. “We have a new vision of both milling and boring machines, as well as multitasking centers or vertical lathes, based on the idea that different parts of the machine require a different treatment: The Working Area, Human Area, Maintenance Spots, and Logistic Area define the concept of Total Machine. All innovations are incorporated as links to each other to increase operator safety and comfort. This improves the efficiency and productivity of the machine. Combined with the advanced automation in changing tools that our machines offer, efficiency and profitability are fully guaranteed.”

The wide scope of the Red Dot Design Award is broken down into the three distinct disciplines: Product Design, Communication Design and Design Concept. The Red Dot Award is organized by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen (Essen, Germany). With more than 17,000 entries in 2015 alone, it is one of the largest competitions in the world.

Soraluce is a worldwide milling, boring and turning technology leader. Throughout its 50 years of history, they have continuously made innovative and pioneering contributions in engineering that have become industry standards. Shops recognize them for their expertise in milling, boring and turning solutions, and in turnkey projects that design and set up complete lines according to quality, efficiency and cost parameters required by the investor.
