HFT Wins Welding Supplier Award

The Association of Welding Distribution Ltd. (AWD; Redditch, UK) announced the winners of their Welding World Awards at a gala dinner held at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham, UK, where Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® (Burry Port, UK) shared a table with some of their UK distributors, including EWM AG (Mündersbach, Germany), a manufacturer of advanced welding machines.

In the second award of the night and in the category of Best New Welding Product Supplier, HFT was announced to be the winner. Georgia Gascoyne, the company’s chief executive officer, and Luke Keane, who provides distributor support, accepted the award on behalf of the company. Presenting the award was the British broadcast journalist Michael Portillo.

There were ten finalists in the group for this award, including ESAB (Florence, SC), EWM, Polysoude (Nantes, France) and Rapid Welding and Industrial Supplies Ltd. (Hampshire, UK).

“I had faced the judging panel at the start of the year in order to deliver a presentation about our company and products,” stated Gascoyne. “The prominent topic was our PurgEye® Weld Purge Monitor®, which has evolved over the 40 years that we have been in business and continue to be an oxygen monitor of choice for welders worldwide. In fact, I was able to show the panel an original first model of the Argweld® Weld Purge Monitor from the 70s.”

As the host, Portillo ensured the evening ran smoothly from start to finish. He is no stranger to welding, as during the filming of his current TV series on train journeys, he visited the Bombardier factory in Poland and was shown how to weld and then gave it a try himself. The dinner was timed to coincide with the MACH Exhibition, the UK’s biggest manufacturing technologies event at the NEC in Birmingham, where many of the dining guests were displaying their products in the welding village section.

Craig Elliott from West Country Welding Supplies (Keynsham, UK), one of HFT’s exclusive distributors, added, “Thank you very much for allowing me to be part of the welding awards evening. It was fantastic to see the company do so well, and it was well deserved. Your hospitality was first class and I felt utterly spoiled.”
